Cougars: Writing Wrongs

It was a beautiful opening night for the Cougars 16-inch softball season and we scored 16 runs. The problem was that took us two games to score those runs while our opponents had a combined 22 runs.

The Cougars lost to Tito’s in the early game and to Chicken Shack in the late game.

While it was a rough start to our 12th season, the Cougars ended up winners because we slaughtered the postgame.

This week the Cougars write our wrongs and next week we right our wrongs.

Cougars vs Tito’s

First Inning

Tito’s scored three in the first with some nice hits and help from our hands.

Offense was quiet other than a Martini single.

Second Inning

We downed Tito’s 1-2-3.

Baby Kale and Joker had hits and left on base.

Third Inning

Tito’s had four batters, one single and three outs.

Boom and Rads reached base and stayed there.

Fourth Inning

Tito’s pushed one across.

First run of the season with JD scoring on hits by Joker and Lil Rads.

Fifth Inning

One run on three hits for Tito’s.

A crooked number for the Cougars as we score three on hits by Kevin, Boom, Rads, JD and Joker.

Sixth Inning

One single and no runs for our opponent.

Four more! Almost everyone in on the action as Li’l Rads, Flandog, Pastor Ted, and Kevin all score along with hits by Boom, Rads, and JD.

Seventh Inning

We had the lead and then lost the lead. Tito’s scored five. Rough defensive inning for the Cougars.

We went down 1-2-3. Game over.

Cougars vs Chicken Shack

First Inning

Shack came out of the gate strong with three runs.

Rads singled and JD drove him in to get our lone run.

Second Inning

Just like last game we put our opponent down 1-2-3.

And then Shack did the same to us.

Third Inning

A couple of hits and no runs for the Shackers.

A repeat of the second inning for the Cougars.

Fourth Inning

We put ‘em down 1-2-3.

Boom led off with a single and productive outs by Rads and Martini scored him.

Fifth Inning

Big inning for Shack with seven runs highlighted by a towering three run homer.

Not intimidated and quite motivated, the Cougars fought back and scored four. We got a whole bunch of hits by Baby Kale, Joker, Li’l Rads, Flandog, Kevin and Tiny Rads, which got us back into the game.

Sixth Inning

We held Shack scoreless.

Three more points for the good guys. Martini, Baby Kale, Joker, Li’l Rads and Fladog kept their hot streak going to keep us in striking distance.
