The
Cougars are keeping Wilmette weird.
We faced Gulliver's in the late game Tuesday night.
Last year
our opponent topped us twice, 13-11 and 10-7. We were unsettled with those
scores and were out for revenge.
First
Inning
We had
first raps and Boom, Rads and Joker all got on base and scored.
Diamond
Dave was a gem on the mound and polished off Gulliver’s 1-2-3.
Cougars
3-0.
Second
Inning
Pastor
Ted, Jimmy, Diamond Dave and Boom all had hits and we scored a trio more.
Diamond
Dave was brilliant and cut our opponent down again 1-2-3.
Cougars
6-0.
Third
Inning
Joker,
JD, Bobi, Teddy and Flandog all had hits and added four more.
Gulliver’s
had another runner make it to first base but he did not last long because a
Rads to Li’l Rads to JD double play did him in.
Cougars
10-0.
Fourth
Inning
Rads,
Joker and JD all laced hits and scored two.
Gulliver’s
had a runner make it to first base. No
runs though thanks to stellar play by Boom and Baby Kale in the outfield catching
shots in the gut.
Cougars
12-0.
Fifth
Inning
L’il Rads
led us off with a smoked single followed by hits by Teddy and Flandog. Jimmy came up with the bases loaded and
crushed a ball to the outfield scoring a tagging L’il Rads for his first ever
RBI. Diamond Dave, Boom, Rads, Joker and
JD all kept the line moving with hits for seven more tallies. Philthy, on the sidelines with a pulled hammy, may have injured his writing hand coloring in the scorecard with all our runs.
Maybe it
was because we were so tired from running, scoring, and cheering, but our foe
pushed one lone run across the plate.
Cougars
win by slaughter rule with the score of 19-1.

Questions
How peculiar
is it that the Cougars would rather play fewer innings and win in 5 frames
rather than a full 7 inning game?
Is it odd
that our starting batterymates, Jimmy and Diamond Dave, had a 45 year age gap?
And is it
bizarre that Diamond Dave struck out two, only let up four hits and for four
innings only two batters made it to first base?
How strange
is it that Joker was 4-4 and touched the dish four times?
Is it bizarre
that nine of our runs were scored after two outs?
Was it a supernatural night for the Cougars at How Weird Park?
Nope.
Just a super night for the Cougars at Howard Park.
