“Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of
our lives.”
For 50 years, that phrase has opened the soap opera Days of our Lives. Over the next hour, what followed on the
daytime drama were the tragedies and triumphs of a Midwestern town believed by
some to be set in Illinois.
The Cougars closed out our eighth season last night. Our weekly 16” softball soap operas have their
share of tragedies and triumphs as well.
And our games are played quickly, with only a few grains of sand left in
the hourglass.
Last night, we began our night on the sandlot and ended
it on a lot of sand.
Despite a sub .500 record, we made it to the final four
in the playoffs. We faced Templeton Rye last
night and they kicked sand in our face.
A softball tragedy; we lost 11-1.
Triumph always awaits the Cougars in the form of the
postgame. John and Sharon, along with help from Coach, gave
us a dream night on the shores of Lake Michigan.
Interestingly, when someone dreams about sand, there’s
a befitting theory that says sand on a beach represents the infiniteness of our
blessings and memories.
Cougar Nation will hold this year’s memories in our
hearts during the soap opera dream sequence that is the offseason.
See you next year!
